The Board of CCC is a group of dedicated and caring people who give generously of their time, talent and treasure to keep the organization running. As diverse a group as they are, they all share one quality in common – a strong wish to make the world a better place for kids and families. Roll over their name to learn a little bit about them.
Retired college president. Served as senior administrator at several institutions across the country. Trained as a psychologist. Experience on non-profit, higher education and corporate boards. Served as a trustee at four colleges.
Susan Lee currently serves as Board Chair for Covenant to Care for Children, but has been an active Board member since 2011. She has served as a Covenant to Care for Children Liaison at her church. Susan is a R.N. experienced in health care fraud investigation, health care management, process improvement, auditing and analysis, training and staff development, and acute nursing practice.
Latoya Lowery is a knowledgeable individual with over 11 years of experience in substance abuse and social work. Ms. Lowery has a Bachelors degree in Social Work from Southern Connecticut University and Masters in Social Work from Fordham University. In addition to being a Social Worker, she became a credentialed Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC) and a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC).
Ms. Lowery is a social worker for the Department of Children and Families were she has been for over 5 1/2 years. Ms. Lowery works directly with youth and family providing ongoing case management and support services. She works diligently at strengthening families while working towards the goal of permanency. Ms. Lowery has a laid back approach which allows her to communicate effectively with both her colleagues and the families she serves.
As a Social Worker for the Department of Children and Families, Ms. Lowery’s responsibilities include but are not limited to assessing the risk, safety, needs and strengths of a family; while coordinating services that would address and possibly eliminate stressors that hindered their ability to function independently. Lastly, Ms. Lowery has participated in numerous community and church events as a youth director and musician. She has proven that hard work and dedication pays off. Her passion for children and music continues to be evident in her daily routine.
